Anambra State Police authorities have dismantled a kidnapping syndicate in the commercial city of Onitsha, seizing weapons from the group.
Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson for the Anambra Police Command, revealed this information on Saturday.
“The breakthrough followed weeks of intensive surveillance by operatives of the Command,” he said in a statement.
“A total of twenty-three Automatic Pump Action Guns and 625 live cartridges were recovered.”
He mentioned that three individuals were apprehended in connection with the syndicate, and the police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
DSP Ikenga quoted Anambra Police Commissioner Aderemi Adeoye praising the operatives involved in the process.
