Police nab three youths who killed friend for ritual

The Osun State Police Command has arrested three youths who allegedly killed one of their friends for ritual purposes.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, in Osogbo, on Saturday, said the suspects were 25-year old Olayade Kehinde; Olufemi Oriyomi, aged 21 and Raimi Sheriff, aged 21.

Opalola said: “On April 7, 2022, at about 11:00 am along Osogbo/OAU Ife Campus Road, Police detectives on ‘stop and search’ duty accosted three men on a motorcycle, they were flagged down, but rather than stop, sped off, but were pursued.

“They were eventually arrested at Safejo area of Ile-Ife; but while searching them, a human heart, which they claimed was one of their friend’s and charms were found on them,” the PPRO explained.

Opalola said: “As the discreet investigation was ongoing, one of the suspects, named Olufemi Oriyomi, fell sick and was taken to the hospital for treatment, but unfortunately, he died while on admission. The corpse has been deposited at the state hospital for autopsy.

“The other two suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation,” she added.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, has warned youths against get-rich-quick syndrome, imploring parents and guardians to advise their wards against keeping bad company.

Olokode advised parents to monitor and warn their children against keeping bad company.

He also admonished the youths to engage in lawful businesses and shun anything that will jeopardise their bright future, which includes all forms of the get-rich-quick syndrome.
