On Tuesday, the Oyo State Police Command evacuated the bodies of three young men who had been brutally killed in Ibadan, the state capital, by yet-unidentified assailants.

According to reports, the deceased were killed early on Monday in the state’s Akinyele Local Government Area near the Office Bus Stop and World Oil gas station on the new Ibadan-Oyo Expressway.

The vital organs of two of the bodies were removed, while one was beheaded.

The state police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, acknowledged the evacuation when reached by phone on Tuesday and claimed it was carried out for the benefit of the general public.

Osifeso said, “Yes, the corpses have been evacuated this morning (Tuesday). It was done in the public interest, and public safety and to prevent the spread of an epidemic. An investigation has already commenced and updates will be provided accordingly.”

According to reports, an awful smell had already engulfed the area before the police officers arrived to remove the remains.

A commercial driver, Abdulfatai AbdulGaniyu, said, “I saw the…bodies of these people in the morning when I was carrying passengers from Ojoo to Toose today. The case looks like a ritual because one of them was beheaded.”

Another source said, “Passengers who are looking for cheap prices, cheap buses are normally staying at that bus stop to board their vehicles to either Oyo, Ogbomoso, Ilorin and even Jebba. They cannot afford the fare at the Terminal, and that’s why they stay there. But this particular case is quite different because some of their vital organs were removed.”
