PSC reinstates 10 dismissed police officers, converts 2 to retirement

After considering the appeals and petitions of 18 fired police officers, the Police Service Commission reinstated 10 of the officers, changed the dismissal of two others to retirement, and rejected the appeals of six others for lack of merit.

The PSC made the choice during its 17th Plenary, which was chaired by Justice Clara Ogunbiyi, its acting chairman, and concluded on Friday, November 11, 2022, in Abuja.

The conversion of 301 ICT experts to General Duty was also approved by the Commission.

It had previously approved CSP Daniel Amah’s exceptional promotion to the next rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police in recognition of his exemplary behavior in refusing to accept a bribe of $200,000.00 while doing his duties as the Divisional Police Officer in Bompai, Kano state.

Amah also received a N1 million cash gift as well as the Honesty and Integrity Service Award.

Additionally, the promotion of 48 Commission employees was granted in plenary.

According to a statement from Ogunbiyi, the PSC will continue to see to it that grieved or dismissed police personnel’ appeals and petitions were handled quickly.

She added that there was a lot of work to be done in the commission and noted that promotions for staff members would continue to be prompt and regular. However, she called for reciprocity from the staff in the form of increased commitment in the performance of their duties.
