Reps demand payment slips from NFF over Falcons bonus

The chairperson of the House of Representatives ad hoc committee on the financial dispute between the Super Falcons and the Nigeria Football Federation has demanded payment slips from the football body for players and officials of the women’s national team at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

Blessing Onu, the chairperson of the House of Representatives ad hoc committee on the financial dispute between the Super Falcons and the Nigeria Football Federation, quizzed NFF president Ibrahim Gusau in Abuja on Thursday.

She demanded that the NFF provide documents of how the Falcons were funded at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the breakdown of match bonuses, and payment slips for 23 players and the coaching crew by August 30.

Gusau responded that no funding was released for participation in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup, but that each of the 32 qualified teams received $960,000 in preparation money from FIFA. He said that this money is intended to be used by the countries to prepare their teams for the World Cup.
