Tragedy struck Wednesday morning at Isi Obehie in Ukwa West Local Government Area(LGA) of Abia State as generator fumes killed six members of a family.
The fumes killed a mother,her three children, her younger sister and brother In-law.
The death caused serious panic in the community as some residents were seem wailing uncontrollably while others were discussing the sunden and unnatural death with fear.
It was gathered that the family members while retiring to bed on Wednesday night, left their generator on behind their building and left the windows open.
It was gathered that because of the window that was left open the generator fumes entered into the house which the deceased inhaled, causing the death.
The incident which was said to have occured at Ofoji Street in Obehie saw to the death of the woman;her three children,her sister and a brother in-law.
The only survivor in the family of seven according to sources is their father,who was not at home when the incident occured.
Daily Sun garhered further that five of the victims died on the spot, while the younger sister to the mother of three ,who was was rushed to the hospital later gave up the ghost on Thursday.
Although the names of the victims could not be ascertained as at press time but they were natives of Isiala Ngwa North LGA of the state,but lived at Isi Obehie .
Abia State Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO), Maureen Chinaka said investigation had begun to ascertain the true cause of their death
