Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, has called on President Bola Tinubu to address what he termed as “excess baggage” within his administration.
Governor Mohammed expressed confidence in the President’s leadership but highlighted that the actions of certain cabinet members were hindering his efforts.
He urged the President to take decisive steps to “discard the excess baggage,” emphasizing the importance of bold actions to strengthen governance.
The Governor made these remarks as the special guest at the commissioning of the 14.1km Umuakali-Eberi Road in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He also stressed the need for governance to take precedence over politics across the states.
He commended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for delivering good governance despite political challenges, expressing confidence in the Governor’s ability to lead effectively.
Governor Bala Mohammed commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s performance, stating that he is no longer concerned about Fubara’s governance or public perception of his administration.
He praised Governor Fubara’s composure and maturity in navigating the state’s political challenges, attributing this to his exceptional character and leadership. Governor Mohammed noted that Fubara demonstrates that political maturity is not determined by years in politics.
The Bauchi State Governor further urged politicians to recognize when to step aside for younger leaders, citing Governor Fubara’s achievements as evidence of his leadership prowess. He remarked that Fubara is more of a “field marshal” than a “general” and encouraged the people of Rivers State to support him for a second term in 2027.
In his address, Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to the people of Omuma for their steadfast support during the state’s political crisis. He credited the success of his administration to the collective efforts of the people and the support of key political stakeholders.
Highlighting the significance of the newly commissioned Umuakali-Eberi Road project, Fubara thanked Governor Mohammed for honoring his invitation to inaugurate the project. He reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises, emphasizing a focus on building capable individuals to drive sustainable development rather than promoting personal interests.
As part of his developmental agenda, Governor Fubara announced plans to assume responsibility for revitalizing the secondary school and healthcare center in the area, a task previously managed by the Local Government Chairman, Promise Reginald. He also pledged to reconstruct additional roads in the region, reiterating his dedication to delivering impactful governance.
