As part of efforts to enhance safety and regulatory compliance across Nigeria’s aviation industry, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has awarded Aviation Security authorisation certificates to six security training institutions and service providers.

The certification exercise covered organisations operating within the aviation security space, including the FAAN Aviation Training School, Maiken Security and Consultancy Services Limited, Safety Signatures Limited, Jomaric Security Service Nigeria Limited, and Vani Security.

Representing the Director-General of Civil Aviation, Chris Najomo, at the event, the Director of Aviation Security Regulation, Bernard Omogo, stressed that approval from the authority is essential for organisations participating in aviation security activities.

According to him, certification remains “a mandatory requirement for all institutions engaged in aviation security operations, and its approval is strictly based on compliance with established regulatory standards”.

The Head of Training and Certification, AVSEC, Hamza Ibrahim, said the programme marks “a new phase of verification for service providers”.

He explained that the exercise involved both the renewal of existing approvals and the issuance of a harmonised NCAA certification. He further revealed that the validity period of the certificate “has been extended from two years to three years, for the first time.”

Officials from the NCAA, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, the Ministry of Aviation, and other industry stakeholders were present during the certification exercise.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, representatives of the certified organisations commended the regulator for what they described as “a significant initiative”.

They also reaffirmed their commitment to complying with aviation security requirements and maintaining high professional standards in line with global best practices.
