The former governor of Plateau state, Jonah Jang, has alleged that some individuals are planning to undermine President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Jang made the remark on Thursday during Tinubu’s visit to Jos, the Plateau state capital, where the president met with families of victims of Sunday’s attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North LGA.

At least 28 people were killed and several others injured when suspected bandits carried out the attack on the community.

Addressing the bereaved families, Tinubu said no compensation could replace the lives lost.

In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, Tinubu directed security chiefs, including Christopher Musa, Waidi Shaibu and Olatunji Disu, to “unearth and find the killers” of the victims.

The president also assured that the government would ensure justice is served and provide support to affected families.

Speaking during the visit, Jang told Tinubu that efforts to disrupt the upcoming elections would not succeed.

“Your Excellency, I think some people want to sabotage these coming elections, and by the grace of God we will not allow them,” Jang said.

The former governor further praised Tinubu’s leadership, expressing confidence that he would secure a second term despite opposition.

“Some people think they want to spoil it at this last tail end of the first tenure. By the grace of God, you’ll come back to accomplish the work,” he said.

“I look forward, Your Excellency, to coming to Abuja so that we really have a heart-to-heart talk. God bless you, and I wish you a safe journey and a very happy Easter.”
