Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has declared his intention to continue leading Spain, ending five days of speculation about his future.

Last week, Sánchez had halted all official engagements following the initiation of a preliminary investigation into his wife over allegations of corruption.

He described the allegations as part of a harassment campaign driven by right-wing media.

Sánchez, who has been in office since 2018, unexpectedly took a break from his duties last week to contemplate his continuation as Prime Minister, a move that surprised even members of his own Socialist Party (PSOE).

The allegations against his wife, Begoña Gómez, were made by Manos Limpias (Clean Hands), an organization led by Miguel Bernad, who is associated with the far-right.

However, on Thursday, the public prosecutor in Madrid requested that the investigation be dismissed due to insufficient evidence.

Furthermore, Manos Limpias admitted the possibility of errors in the allegations, acknowledging they were based on online newspaper articles, one of which has been discredited.
