Waziri Tambuwal, the governor of Sokoto State, has denied that he is giving up the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party Governors Forum.
Before withdrawing from the PDP presidential primaries to support Atiku Abubakar, who ultimately won the party’s nomination, Tambuwal was a candidate.
The denial is contained in a press release that the forum’s Director General, CID Maduabum, signed and distributed to journalists on Friday.
“This is to inform the general public and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party , that the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum (PDP-GF), Rt Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has not resigned as Chairman of the Forum contrary to some media reports.
“Members of the PDP GOVERNORS FORUM are working behind the scenes to resolve all contending issues concerning the Party. To this end a meeting of the Forum will soon be convened,” the statement read.
The PDP’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Senator Wali Jibrin, resigned during the National Executive Council meeting on Thursday, and was replaced by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara.
