On Wednesday, a tanker explosion at a filling station in the Rigasa area of Kaduna State’s Igabi Local Government Area injured at least 20 people.
Five firefighters, members from the Kaduna State Vigilante Service, and onlookers were among those injured in varied degrees by the incident.
According to the State Director of Fire Service, Mr. Paul Aboi, on Thursday, the fire service members are currently undergoing treatment at the Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital in Kaduna.
He explained that the tanker was offloading petrol when the incident happened on Wednesday.
He blamed the incident on negligence on the part of the filing station, noting that the offloading of petrol shouldn’t have been done in the afternoon.
He cautioned petrol owners against endangering their lives by offloading the commodity at the appropriate time (evening).
