At least three people have lost their lives following a violent cult clash in Igbogene, a suburb of Yenagoa.

The violence erupted on Sunday night, sending residents into panic as gunshots rang out across different parts of the community.

While the identities of the victims were not immediately confirmed, eyewitnesses said the confrontation reflects ongoing cult-related violence troubling parts of the state.

Many residents reportedly fled their homes for safety, and commercial activities were brought to a standstill during the unrest.

One resident, who spoke anonymously out of fear of retaliation, urged authorities to intensify security patrols to restore peace in the area.

The incident comes amid a series of recent cult clashes across the state, where six people were reportedly killed in separate attacks, heightening safety concerns.

Residents have appealed to the state government and security agencies to take urgent action to prevent further violence.

The spokesperson for the state police command, DSP Musa Muhammed, confirmed the incident.

“Yes, three lives were lost. Investigation has commenced, and efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects,” he said.
