Tinubu approves seven months of free Metro Rail rides in Abuja

Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has approved free rides on the newly commissioned Abuja Rail Transport System until the end of the year.

As part of the commemoration of his first year in office, Tinubu commissioned the project in Abuja on Wednesday.

The President praised Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike for the “speedy completion of the project.”

Earlier, Wike had announced that commuters would be allowed to use the Abuja Light Rail for free during the first two months.

Wike made this statement during a ministerial press briefing in Abuja. He mentioned that the free rides would commence on Tuesday, adding that it is part of the president’s renewed hope agenda for residents of the FCT.
