Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the president-elect, has denounced the weekend atrocities in the states of Zamfara and Kano when criminals went on the rampage.

Recall that the attack in Maru Local Government of Zamfara State is said to have resulted in the deaths of a divisional police officer, an inspector, and a vigilante.

Similar to the Kano invasion, unidentified gunmen broke into the home of a local chief and murdered him without mercy.

In a statement released on Monday by the president-elect’s media office, Tinubu bemoaned that the attacks served as a reminder that greater security measures must be taken in order to thoroughly destroy robbers and terrorists.

“As a country we have to come together to defeat these merchants of death and terror once and for all. Mindless killings and atrocities like this should have no place in our country,” he said.

The former governor of Lagos State also expressed sympathy to the families of the deceased security officers, Usman Baba, the government of Zamfara State, and the Inspector-General of Police.

The district head of Maigari in Kano State, who was the father of Rimin Gado Local Government Chairman, Munir Dahiru Maigari, was assassinated, and the president-elect demanded an investigation.

He expressed his sorrow over the brutal killing of the local official with the head of the local government, the administration of Kano State, and the deceased’s family.

The president-elect sent separate condolence letters to the families of Abdullahi Abacha, the son of late General Sani Abacha, and Sheikh Gumi, an Islamic cleric who just lost his ailing mother.

“It is touching to part with a loved one, no matter the circumstances and age. We cannot question the will of Allah but we can only pray that Almighty Allah grant them eternal rest and give us the fortitude to bear their demise,” he said.
