A Nigerian man staged a protest at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja, displaying a placard that read “Reward me or kill me,” while alleging he was abandoned after contributing to the party’s 2023 election campaigns.

The protester, dressed in an APC-branded blue shirt, claimed he sold his house during the campaign period and is now unable to afford his children’s school fees, forcing him to leave them with the party’s Chief Security Officer.

The incident was captured in a video that began circulating on Facebook on Thursday night before gaining traction on X, where it quickly went viral.

In the footage, the man is seen pacing in front of the secretariat, holding up his placard and voicing his grievances as security personnel and onlookers watched, with some recording the scene.

“I sold my house because of the debt I seemed to owe APC. Because of the work I worked for APC,” he said.

When questioned about who sent him, he pointed to his shirt and responded, “These are the people that sent me.”

He maintained that his involvement was linked to the party’s 2023 campaigns, but that he received no compensation afterwards.

“This is the work I did for APC and at the end of it, no reward. Rather, the CSO threatened to shoot me and nothing will happen,” he said.

The man also expressed distress over his children’s situation after leaving them at the party office.

“Since yesterday, my children, I don’t know where they are. I dropped my children with the CSO and APC because I cannot take care of them again. I cannot pay school fees anymore,” he said.

His placard read in full: “All Progressives Congress. Reward me or kill me. I’m a party man and not a lunatic. I have lost so much for the party. I am depressed and my health is affected.”

The short video showed him visibly agitated, moving back and forth while repeatedly raising the placard toward the gate of the secretariat.

No APC official was seen addressing him during the protest, according to the footage.

Online reactions were largely unsympathetic, with many users criticising his expectation of personal compensation for political involvement.

As of the time of reporting, the APC had not issued any official statement on the incident.
