Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), under the Joint Task Force in the North-West, have arrested a 50-year-old woman suspected of acting as an ammunition courier for terrorists in Kaduna State.
According to counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, the suspect was arrested on Wednesday, September 9, during an operation in Igabi Local Government Area of the state.
Makama reported that the woman was allegedly carrying 300 rounds of ammunition concealed inside a bag when she was arrested.
Preliminary investigations reportedly showed that the suspect had travelled from Zamfara to Lafia in Nasarawa State, where she allegedly collected the ammunition for onward delivery to terrorist elements operating around Birnin Gwari in Kaduna.
The publication said the suspect and the recovered ammunition were subsequently taken into military custody as investigations continue to uncover her network and identify the intended recipients.
In a separate operation in Kubau LGA, troops reportedly arrested a suspected terrorist kingpin and two other members of his syndicate during a clearance operation at Dabar Dabo, described as a suspected terrorist hideout.
The publication added that troops, working alongside a community vigilante group, later arrested another suspected terrorist logistics supplier in Birnin Gwari LGA on the same day.
Makama said four communication devices suspected to have been used in connection with terrorist activities were recovered from the suspect.
According to the publication, the operations form part of ongoing military efforts to disrupt terrorist networks and their supply chains, including the movement of arms, ammunition and other logistics across the joint operations area.
