In a substantial operation focused on preserving peace and security in Taraba State, soldiers from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army have eliminated five violent extremists, thwarted kidnapping efforts, and seized a significant stockpile of weapons and ammunition.

Acting on reliable intelligence regarding the extremists’ plan to abduct church members returning from a religious event in Wukari along Tor – Tse and Takum road, the troops took decisive action.

The 93 Battalion deployed in Wukari promptly responded by strategically positioning themselves and lying in wait for the violent extremists and insurgents in the early hours of April 2, 2024.

They engaged the extremists in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the neutralization of four extremists and the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, one pump-action rifle, and two AK-47 magazines.

Additionally, on March 27, 2024, troops encountered suspected violent extremists while on patrol around Chanchanji Ward of Takum Local Government Area.

The troops responded with superior firepower, resulting in the neutralization of one extremist and the recovery of one locally fabricated FN pistol, two rounds of 9mm ammunition, and one mobile phone belonging to the criminal.

The success of these operations underscores the unwavering commitment of the 6 Brigade to safeguarding the lives and property of citizens and creating a safer environment for business activities in the state and its surroundings.

The military encourages members of the public to continue supporting its troops by providing timely and credible information on any suspicious movements or activities of criminals within the state.
