Troops rescue seven abducted female students, three construction workers in Zamfara

Troops from Operation Hadarin Daji in Zamfara State successfully rescued seven female students who were abducted from the Federal University, Gusau. Additionally, three construction workers from Gupran Engineering Services Ltd. were also rescued in the operation.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert well-versed in terrorist activities around Lake Chad, disclosed yesterday the names of the rescued individuals: Rukayya Batola (200 Level, Educ Chemistry, Zamfara), Merry Monday (MCB-300 Level), Maryam Salawuddeen (300 Level, Accounting, Osun), Salamatu Dahiru (MCB-200 Level), Fiddausi Abdulazeez (200 Level, Edu Biology), Amamatullahi Dahiru (200 Level, Education Chemistry), Ketora Bulus (100 Level, Education Physics, Kaduna), and Felicia Sunday (200 Level, Computer Science, Osun).

Additional individuals included Jamila Ahmad (200 Level, BCH, Kogi), Aisha Ujong (Graduate, Edu Physics, Cross River), Mariya Usman (400 Level, English, Katsina), Usaina Abdulrahman (100 Level, Education English), and Saadatu Aminu Abubakar (Education Biology).

 

The three rescued laborers from Gupran Engineering Services Ltd have been identified as Mustapha Abdullahi, Kamalu Shuaibu, and Ishaq Idris.

It is worth noting that over 20 students and others were kidnapped last Friday from their rented accommodation in Sabon Gida, Bungudu LGA of the state.

Earlier on Friday, troops had successfully rescued six female students, bringing the total number of those rescued so far to 13.

According to military sources, it’s possible that additional female students and construction workers managed to flee amid the deployment of Operation Hadarin Daji troops, who were tasked with pursuing the bandits and ensuring the safety of the captives.

This deployment comprised both ground and air elements, including Special Forces from the Joint Task Force of Operation Hadarin Daji.
