Two die in Christmas day accident on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

On Christmas Day, an accident occurred opposite AP filling station on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, resulting in the confirmed death of two individuals and injuries sustained by one person.

On Monday in Abeokuta, Mrs. Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, confirmed the incident to journalists.

The accident, which involved a Toyota bus with the registration TSE 266 XA and a Mazda bus bearing the registration FKJ 215 XX, occurred at 5:20 p.m.

Okpe attributed the cause of the accident to speeding and wrongful overtaking.

A total of 15 individuals, consisting of 12 men and three women, were involved in the incident. Unfortunately, two individuals lost their lives, and one person sustained injuries.

The injured victim from the Lagos-Ibadan expressway accident was transported to Idera Hospital, Sagamu, for medical attention. The deceased have been placed in the morgue at the same hospital.

Okpe relayed advice from the state Sector Commander, Anthony Uga, who urged motorists to avoid speeding and to drive with utmost attention.
