The United States Department of State has announced plans to release a special edition passport bearing the image of President Donald Trump.

According to Fox News, the redesigned passport is a commemorative version created to mark the country’s 250th independence anniversary.

Mock-ups shared on the White House’s official X account show Trump’s portrait on the inside cover, alongside excerpts from the Declaration of Independence, the American flag, and his signature embossed in gold.

Another page features a famous artwork depicting the founding fathers during the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The passports are expected to be issued in the summer as part of the administration’s ‘America250’ celebrations. Planned activities include a Grand Prix race at the National Mall in August and a UFC event on the White House South Lawn in June.

Tommy Pigott, spokesperson for the State Department, said the booklets will include customised artwork and enhanced imagery while maintaining the standard security features of US passports.

The cover design has also been updated, with ‘United States of America’ enlarged and positioned above the national crest. The back cover will display the American flag with ‘250’ placed between the 13 stars from the 1777 version of the flag.

A State Department official said the passports will be available to US citizens applying during the rollout period, depending on availability. The documents will be issued exclusively through the Washington Passport Agency.

The launch is expected to align with the July anniversary celebrations. Preparations are already underway across the US for nationwide events, including a fireworks display at Mount Rushmore.

While commemorative items such as coins and national park passes are common in the US, passports remain internationally recognised identification documents typically valid for 10 years.
