President Bola Tinubu has said his administration is strengthening Nigeria’s economy through massive investments in critical infrastructure, with major road projects in the Federal Capital Territory aimed at boosting productivity, easing transportation and stimulating commercial activities.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima during the commissioning of the rehabilitated Karu Interchange–Customs Junction road, Tinubu said the Renewed Hope Agenda is focused on ensuring that development reaches communities where Nigerians live and work.
“This project stands as a clear testimony to our promise to resolve urban congestion and help standardise the lives of our people. It is a direct product of our Renewed Hope Agenda in action,” the President said.
He noted that the Karu corridor, a vital gateway connecting the FCT with neighbouring states, had long suffered from severe traffic congestion that affected productivity and daily life.
According to him, the road expansion and rehabilitation will reduce travel time, ease gridlock and create better conditions for businesses to thrive.
“By expanding and rehabilitating these roads, we are not just laying asphalt; we are injecting life back into the local economy,” Tinubu stated.
The President added that the project includes solar-powered streetlights to improve safety, visibility and security for residents and commuters.
Tinubu also commended Nyesom Wike for driving Abuja’s rapid physical transformation and implementing the administration’s urban renewal agenda.
“The rapid physical transformation across Abuja would not have happened without the diligent, relentless and focused supervisory vision of the Honourable Minister of the FCT,” he said.
He praised the extension of infrastructure development to satellite communities, describing it as evidence that the benefits of governance are being distributed beyond the city centre.
The President further urged residents to protect public infrastructure by avoiding vandalism and maintaining proper sanitation, particularly by keeping drainage channels free of refuse.
Speaking at the event, Wike thanked President Tinubu for supporting the FCT’s infrastructure drive and called on Nigerians to continue praying for the administration.
He said investments in roads, water supply and other essential facilities have improved living conditions and transformed communities across the capital territory.
“As you are coming into this area, you can see that the entire landscape has changed. This is what development is supposed to be,” Wike said.
The minister stressed that the projects benefit all residents regardless of political affiliation, adding that quality infrastructure is appreciated across party lines.
He also commended indigenous contractor Abdul Jalil Limited for completing the project on schedule, saying the firm’s performance had strengthened his confidence in local construction companies.
According to Wike, improved infrastructure is already attracting investment and increasing property values within the Karu community.
He assured residents that the administration would continue delivering development projects across all districts of the FCT.
“We will make sure that the dividends of democracy touch every part of the FCT. Every community will feel the impact of this administration,” he said.
