Workers’ Day: Minister commends Aviation workers

On the occasion of May Day celebrations, Hadi Sirika, the minister of aviation, commended aviation workers on Monday.

Speaking through his Special Assistant, James Odaudu, Sirika praised the tenacity and dedication of aviation employees for their everyday contributions to the operation and growth of the sector.

According to the Minister, “The lofty achievements recorded in the nation’s aviation sector wouldn’t have been possible without the commitment and personal sacrifices of employees in the different segments of the industry.

“He particularly ascribes the near-total achievement of the aviation roadmap to the understanding and cooperation of the workers and hopes that the remaining parts will be achieved within the short period before the handover to the incoming administration.”

He restates the commitment of the Buhari administration to the continued improvement of the welfare of aviation workers through regular training, enhanced pay packages, provision of working tools and conducive work environments.

Sirika also took advantage of the opportunity to reassure airline workers of the Federal Government’s dedication to putting the Conditions of Service into effect.

Additionally, he assures workers of his dedication to seeing to it that the relevant CoS of the agencies under the Ministry’s supervision are implemented and that the minimum wages set forth in the agreement with the labour unions are paid.

According to the statement, the minister did voice concern over the industry’s frequent worker strikes, which frequently cause disruptions in airport operations and send the wrong message to foreign countries about the safety of Nigeria’s airspace.

“The Minister wishes all workers in the aviation sector a wonderful celebration.”
