The Zamfara State Government has issued a directive for the immediate restriction of movement along the state’s borders with Katsina and Sokoto from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am. This action is in response to the resurgence of terrorist attacks on innocent travelers.

The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mannir Haidara, revealed this in a statement, indicating that the directive was a component of the resolutions reached during the State Security Council meeting.

“As of today, the State Government has ordered restriction of movement along Yankara border of Zamfara with Katsina state and Bimasa Zamfara border with Sokoto State from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily,” he said.

He mentioned that this measure aims to address the persistent kidnapping incidents targeting travelers along the Sokoto-Gusau-Funtua highway.

The commissioner emphasized that all motorists and travelers must adhere to the government’s directive, with security agencies tasked to oversee the borders and ensure strict compliance.
