Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has revealed that he navigated through 38 legal challenges on his path to becoming the governor. He emphasized that he attributes his governance to divine ordination by God.
Governor Oborevwori made these remarks yesterday during a thanksgiving service held at the Government House Chapel in Asaba, celebrating his triumph at the Supreme Court.
He revealed that he emerged victorious in all legal proceedings, ranging from pre-election to post-election, culminating in the Supreme Court.
Governor Oborevwori, accompanied by his wife, Deaconess Tobore, his deputy Sir Monday Onyeme and wife Catherine, as well as the immediate past governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and wife Dame Edith, expressed gratitude to God and the people of Delta for the Supreme Court victory.
Governor Oborevwori highlighted that he faced an unprecedented number of legal battles, asserting that no other governor in the country had encountered such challenges.
In appreciation for his victory, he pledged to serve as a humble leader along with his deputy, Sir Monday.
Oborevwori said: “I came to this altar before I went to Abuja for this last judgment. And I said God is not a man that he should lie.
“I have promised God that every time He gives me victory I must come here to thank Him. I have done it several times. And I said I would also return the same day of the victory to thank God.
“For the Lord has redeemed me.
“This victory is not about me but about the people of Delta state. The immediate past governor said that somebody that would not recognise this altar would never be governor.
“God has honoured that word. This case made it 38 cases for me from pre-election matters to this one. Even the governors who have done eight years did not go through such a number of cases,” Governor Oborevwori said.
