At just seventeen years old, Lewis Miley made history as Newcastle’s youngest Premier League goal scorer, leading the Magpies to a victory over 10-man Fulham after their elimination from the Champions League.

Fulham suffered a setback as striker Raul Jimenez received a red card in the 22nd minute for a dangerous jumping challenge on Sean Longstaff, striking the Newcastle player in the face.

Initially shown a yellow card by on-pitch referee Sam Barrott, video assistant referee Michael Salisbury prompted a review, leading to the upgrade to a red card.

In the first half, Anthony Gordon struck the crossbar for the hosts. The breakthrough for Newcastle came in the second half when substitute Lewis Miley, who joined the club’s academy at the age of seven, delivered a low shot past Bernd Leno.

Shortly thereafter, Miguel Almiron secured a second goal when the ball fell to him just a few yards out after Callum Wilson believed he was fouled by Antonee Robinson.

Dan Burn secured a late third goal, pushing the ball over the line after Bernd Leno parried his initial header.

The victory halted Newcastle’s three-game losing streak, coming just three days after their 2-1 defeat at home to AC Milan. The loss not only resulted in their elimination from the Champions League but also concluded their participation in European competition for the season, with the team finishing at the bottom of their group.
