AFCON qualifier: Super Eagles begin preparations for São Tomé clash on Wednesday

The Super Eagles are scheduled to commence their training camp on Wednesday, September 6th, in preparation for their last 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against São Tomé and Principe, which is set to take place this weekend.

This information was made public through the official Super Eagles’ X (Formerly Twitter) handle account on Monday.

The Eagles are scheduled to welcome São Tomé on Sunday, September 10th, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.

On Sunday, the names of the 23-man squad for the match against São Tomé were revealed.

Three players, Victor Boniface, Gift Orban,on  and Jordan Torunarigha, received their first call-up to the Super Eagles, while Tyronne Ebuehi and Jamilu Collins made their way back to the team.

Additionally, players such as Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi, William Troost-Ekong, and Samuel Chukwueze have received invitations.

The Eagles, as well as Guinea-Bissau, have already guaranteed their spots in next year’s AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire from Group A.
