Arne Slot plans to hold talks with unhappy Salah

Liverpool manager Arne Slot said he plans to speak with Mohamed Salah on Friday morning before deciding whether the forward will be available for this weekend’s fixture against Brighton.

Salah accused the club of throwing him “under the bus” and claimed he had no connection with the Dutch coach after being left on the bench for last week’s 3-3 draw with Leeds — his third consecutive match without a start.

The 33-year-old did not make the trip for Tuesday’s Champions League clash at Inter Milan, which Liverpool won 1-0, instead sharing a social media photo of himself alone in a gym at the club’s training facility.

Slot said at his pre-match press conference: “I will have a conversation with Mo this morning, the outcome of that conversation determines how things will look tomorrow.”

He added: “I think the next time I speak about Mo should be with him and not in here. You can keep on trying but there is not much more to say about it.

“After the Sunderland game (a 1-1 draw earlier this month in which Salah was a substitute) there were a lot of conversations between his representatives and ours, between him and me.”

Slot deflected additional questions from journalists regarding the forward but noted: “I have no reasons not wanting him to stay, and that is a little bit of an answer to your question.”

Salah is expected to link up with Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations following the Brighton match at Anfield.

The forward, who ranks third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list, has captured two Premier League titles and a Champions League crown during his time at the club.

However, he has found the net only four times in 13 Premier League matches this season.

Liverpool, champions of England for the 20th time last season, currently sit 10th after a disappointing stretch of form.
