Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has signed a new two-year contract.
The 25-year-old Japanese international, whose existing contract was set to terminate in 2025, has extended his commitment until 2026, with the possibility of an additional year.
Tomiyasu has participated in 73 matches across all competitions for the Gunners since his arrival from Bologna in 2021.
“Together with his natural ability and strength, Tomi’s attitude, mentality and values are first-class,” said manager Mikel Arteta.
“Tomi is loved by everyone and has been an integral part of the squad since joining us.
“The way he trains, with his desire and determination to be the best version of himself every day, is admirable.”
Tomiyasu, known for his versatility across the back four, has featured in 20 matches for Arsenal in various competitions this season. He netted his inaugural goal in a 5-0 Premier League victory against Sheffield United in October.
With 10 matches left in the season, Arsenal currently leads the Premier League table on goal difference as they pursue their first title triumph since 2004.
Their upcoming challenge sees them confronting Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League next month.
