OFFICIAL STATEMENT:

Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise has been voted the Bundesliga’s Player of the Season for 2025/26.

DFL CEOs Marc Lenz and Steffen Merkel presented the 24-year-old France international with the award shortly before the Bundesliga champions received the Bundesliga Meisterschale at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

“Michael Olise is a spectacular player who can make the difference, who has made his mark in the 2025/26 Bundesliga season with his dynamism, finesse, consistency and goals,” Lenz and Merkel said.

“He’s developed into a poster boy for the league on a national and international level in the last two years, standing for both footballing and athletic excellence. We’d like to congratulate Michael on his victory and his outstanding season for Bayern.”

Olise registered 15 goals and 19 assists during the 2025/26 Bundesliga campaign, becoming the first player since 2019/20 to record at least 15 goals and 15 assists in a single Bundesliga season. He had earlier won the Rookie of the Season award in his first year in Germany.

The Player of the Season award, organised alongside long-time league partner EA SPORTS, has been part of the Bundesliga calendar since the 2019/20 season. Previous winners include Harry Kane (2025), Florian Wirtz (2024) and Jude Bellingham (2023).

The selection process begins with the Team of the Season being picked from a 40-player shortlist. Voting is split between fans on Bundesliga platforms (40 percent), clubs (30 percent) and selected experts (30 percent). The same format is then used to determine the Player of the Season from the Team of the Season nominees.
