CAF Awards 2023: Osimhen makes 30-man shortlist for men’s award

Super Eagles and Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, has received a nomination for the 2023 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.

The 24-year-old played a pivotal role in Napoli’s success last season, helping the club secure their first Serie A title in 33 years. Osimhen’s exceptional performance earned him the Golden Boot, with a remarkable 26 goals, making him the highest-scoring African player in the league. Additionally, he was honored as the league’s top striker.

At the 2023 Ballon d’Or ceremony held on Monday, Osimhen achieved the 8th position on the men’s list, setting a new record as the highest-ranked Nigerian player in history. Notably, Sadio Mane, the current titleholder, and Liverpool Forward Mohamed Salah also made the list.

The Awards Gala is set to take place on December 11, 2023, in Marrakech, Morocco.
