Chelsea, Nottingham Forest charged for failing to control players

Chelsea and Nottingham Forest have been charged by the Football Association for failing to control their players during a mass confrontation in Sunday’s Premier League match at Stamford Bridge.

However, no action will be taken against Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson, who appeared to slap Forest’s Morato as players from both teams clashed towards the end of the 1-1 draw.

The altercation was sparked when Forest’s Neco Williams seemingly pushed defender Marc Cucurella off the pitch.

The incident between Jackson and Morato was reviewed by the video assistant referee during the match.

“It’s alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 88th minute,” the FA said in a statement.

Both clubs have until Thursday to respond to the charge.

Following the altercation, three players received yellow cards—Williams for Forest, and Cucurella and Levi Colwill for Chelsea.

Chelsea also faces an automatic £50,000 fine after six of their players were booked during the match, marking the second time this season they have exceeded the limit of six bookings in a game.
