Coronavirus: Onyekuru quarantined in Turkey
Super Eagles winger, Henry Onyekuru, has been forced to go into self-isolation after his club manager, Fatih Terim, tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday.
Terim is the second known Turkish football personality and Galatasaray staff to test positive for the virus after the Turkish giants chairman, Abdurrahim Albayrak, also tested positive for the disease.
Albayrak’s wife, Sukran, has also tested positive.
Onyekuru is on loan from Monaco, on a second spell with the Istanbul side after failing to nail down a shirt with the principality outfit, having completed a €13m move from Everton this season.
The 22-year-old is highly rated by Terim, who facilitated his return after a successful first spell together, lifting the league title and a domestic cup.
And in the wake of the two COVID-19 cases recorded at the club’s base, Onyekuru alongside his teammates might be forced to go into quarantine.
Turkish authorities have suspended the league as the country seek to contain the virus that has led to 947 cases in the last two days and, 293 new cases in the last 24 hours.
Onyekuru has played seven times, scoring once for the Super Lig outfit.
