Cristiano Ronaldo wins B.O.A.T. award as his 2008 Ballon d’Or season emerge best

Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic 2008 season has been voted the greatest Ballon d’Or-winning campaign in history, earning him the B.O.A.T. (Ballon d’Or Of All Time) award.

The initiative was launched by the Ballon d’Or organisation to celebrate the award’s 70th anniversary, allowing fans to vote for the best Ballon d’Or-winning season ever. Only players who had won the prestigious award at least twice were eligible, and fans were required to pay €1 to cast their votes.

However, the B.O.A.T. is not an official Ballon d’Or trophy, nor is it the Super Ballon d’Or. The three are separate concepts, and the B.O.A.T. initiative was specifically designed to recognise the greatest winning season through fan voting.

The official announcement also revealed that 5,009 people voted multiple times. Of that number, 44 people voted between 10 and 26 times, 300 voted between five and nine times, while 4,665 people cast between two and four votes.
