Matheus Cunha remains unavailable as Manchester United aim to recover from a “really tough” week, manager Ruben Amorim said on Friday.

United fell 1-0 at home to 10-man Everton on Monday, bringing an end to a five-game unbeaten streak that had boosted morale at Old Trafford.

Cunha sat out after the Brazilian attacker picked up an injury in training, adding to the absence of striker Benjamin Sesko, who is dealing with a knee problem.

Both players will miss Sunday’s match against Crystal Palace, and defender Maguire will also be sidelined again.

“Sesko is going to take a little bit more time,” Amorim said. “Harry the same. I expect to have Matheus in the next one (against West Ham on Thursday), not this one.”

United will feel the impact of losing Cunha and Sesko, especially given that they haven’t scored in their last four Premier League fixtures versus Palace.

The team is also trying to move past Monday’s disappointing defeat to an Everton side that had been reduced to 10 players early after Idrissa Gana Gueye slapped teammate Michael Keane.

“It was really tough, the week, as it should be,” Amorim said. “It was hard this result, this defeat, but the process needs to continue, and we need to go for the next game.

“We need to understand that especially in our league this year, everything can change really fast, so let’s go again and focus on the next one.”

United travel to Palace seeking only their second away victory of the season against opponents who have gone 12 consecutive Premier League home matches without defeat.

Amorim’s squad recently surrendered leads to Nottingham Forest and Tottenham before managing to secure 2-2 draws in both contests.

“It’s hard to point to one thing why we are not winning away,” said the Portuguese coach, whose team currently sits 10th in the Premier League.

“There’s a lot of issues. We are improving… We need to know how to finish the games in order to win.”
