Former Chelsea defender, Glen Johnson firmly believes that Nigerian international Victor Osimhen will ultimately make a move to Chelsea in one of the upcoming transfer windows.
Regarded as one of the top strikers globally, the Super Eagles forward has earned acclaim alongside notable names such as Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappe, owing to his stellar displays for Napoli in Serie A.
With only 18 months remaining on his contract with the Italian club, Osimhen has purportedly declined to extend his agreement with Napoli.
However, former Chelsea and England defender Glen Johnson anticipates that the 24-year-old striker will eventually commit to a deal with the Blues.
“Regardless of what is happening at Napoli, I believe Victor [Osimhen] would want to join Premier League side Chelsea anyway,” he said.
“However, Osimhen will be kicking himself that this move could happen when the Blues are currently in transition,” Johnson added.
The former defender believes that with Chelsea being a notable team, they will eventually bounce back from their current slump.
“But as long as Victor [Osimhen] is willing to wait 18 months or so for that to happen, then I am sure he would still want to sign for them [Chelsea] in January.”
Chelsea will encounter rivalry from other prominent European powerhouses such as Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, and various others in the race to secure the signature of the Super Eagles sensation.
