The former defender for Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, Larry Lloyd, passed away at the age of 75.

Lloyd played a pivotal role in Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest team, securing the First Division title in 1978 and subsequently clinching consecutive European Cups.

Additionally, he was a member of Liverpool’s 1973 First Division-winning squad and contributed to their victory in the UEFA Cup during the same season.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Larry Lloyd,” Nottingham Forest said.

“Part of the Miracle Men, Larry was an integral player in the Forest side that memorably won back-to-back European Cups in 1979 and 1980, making 218 appearances for the club in total.

“We send our condolences to Larry’s friends and family at this truly sad time. Rest in peace, Larry.”

Lloyd began his professional journey with Bristol Rovers before being acquired by Liverpool for £50,000 by Bill Shankly in 1969, during which he amassed 218 appearances for the club.

Following a two-year stint at Coventry City, he transferred to Nottingham Forest in 1976, remaining with them for five seasons before concluding his playing career as a player-manager at Wigan. Additionally, he served as manager at Notts County from 1983 until October of the subsequent year.
