Manchester United have received a second bid from Fulham, reportedly valued at £20 million, for midfielder Scott McTominay.
It is expected that United will reject this offer, but McTominay’s future remains uncertain after previous interest from West Ham last summer.
During the club’s pre-season tour in the United States, United manager Erik ten Hag expressed satisfaction with having McTominay in the squad but did not confirm whether the 27-year-old Scotland international would stay.
United are aiming to raise funds for new signings, and injuries to defender Leny Yoro, who will be out for three months, and striker Rasmus Hojlund, add to the urgency.
McTominay, entering the prime years of his career, desires a regular starting role.
He made 32 Premier League appearances last season, including 14 from the bench, and started the FA Cup final victory over Manchester City.
He played as a number 10 in Wednesday’s 3-2 pre-season win against Real Betis in San Diego.
With Bruno Fernandes yet to join the main training group post-Euro 2024, Mason Mount aiming to stay fit, and Casemiro still at the club despite speculation of a summer move to the Saudi Pro-League, a deal for McTominay could still be a possibility.
Ten Hag praised McTominay, noting his impressive performances and contributions.
“I am so pleased with the performance of Scott and so pleased to have him in my squad,” said the Dutchman.
“Scott has huge impact on team performances with his spirit and playing in the advanced position he is so important.”
