England goalkeeper Hannah Hampton has been crowned the Best Fifa Women’s Goalkeeper, with Manchester City’s Gianluigi Donnarumma claiming the equivalent men’s honour.

The 25-year-old Hampton played a key role as Chelsea secured a domestic treble last season and as England successfully retained their Euro 2025 crown over the summer.

Meanwhile, Italy international Donnarumma was instrumental in Paris St-Germain lifting their first-ever Champions League trophy before completing a move to City this summer.

Hampton expressed her gratitude to England head coach Sarina Weigman and Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor “for the belief in me this year”.

She added: “With club and country, we have achieved so much and there is still much more for us to go and get.”

Addressing supporters, Hampton said: “To the fans, both club and country, your support doesn’t go unnoticed.

“We hear you cheering every single game loud and proud and it helps push us on to go and get the win for you all. So, thank you very much.”

Both Hampton and Donnarumma had already been recognised earlier in the year, winning the Yashin Trophy at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in September.

Hampton featured in every match of Euro 2025 — including the final, where England defeated Spain on penalties — and played in all of Chelsea’s fixtures during an unbeaten Women’s Super League campaign. She also collected the Golden Glove after recording 13 clean sheets.

The Marta Award for the best goal in women’s football was won by Lizbeth Ovalle, thanks to her spectacular scorpion kick for Tigres against Guadalajara in Mexico’s Liga MX Femenil in March. Ovalle has since moved to Orlando Pride in the United States’ National Women’s Soccer League.

In the men’s game, the Puskas Award for goal of the year went to Independiente’s Santiago Montiel, whose stunning overhead strike from outside the penalty area against Independiente Rivadavia lit up the Argentine Primera Division in May.
