Jude Bellingham is expected to miss Real Madrid’s Champions League last-16 first-leg tie against RB Leipzig on Tuesday with a sprained ankle.
The 20-year-old England midfielder was substituted after the La Liga victory over Girona on Saturday, where he scored two goals.
The Spanish team said his recuperation will be “monitored” but has not provided a timeline for his comeback.
With his double, Bellingham has scored 20 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions since leaving Borussia Dortmund in the summer.
For Carlo Ancelotti’s team, Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo also scored at the Bernabeu to give them a five-point advantage at the top of the table.
Real Madrid will play La Liga matches at home against Sevilla and away at Rayo Vallecano before the end of February, with the return leg against Leipzig set for March 6. The matchup with Leipzig takes place on Tuesday at 20:00 GMT.
England will play friendly with Belgium and Brazil at the conclusion of the following month.
