Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker could return to action for the first time in over two months after being named in the squad for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Girona.

The 32-year-old has been sidelined since sustaining a hamstring injury during Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on October 5. In his absence, Republic of Ireland international Caoimhin Kelleher has filled the role between the posts.

Having missed 11 matches due to the injury, Alisson participated in training on Monday and has been included in the 19-man traveling squad heading to Spain for the crucial fixture.

“So happy to be back,” the Brazilian posted on social media.

Caoimhin Kelleher has stepped up impressively during Alisson’s absence, keeping five clean sheets, including notable shutouts against Real Madrid and Manchester City.

However, he faced criticism for misjudging a cross against Newcastle last Wednesday, which allowed Fabian Schar to score the equalizer in a 3-3 draw.

Meanwhile, forward Diogo Jota participated in training on Monday as he continues his recovery from a chest injury sustained on October 20. Despite his progress, Jota did not travel with the squad to Girona.

Liverpool head into the Champions League clash in formidable form, having won all five of their league-phase matches in the competition.
