Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson is anticipated to be sidelined until at least mid-November due to a hamstring injury.
The Brazilian international sustained the injury during Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace and was substituted for Vitezslav Jaros in the 79th minute.
Liverpool does not expect Alisson to return before the next international break, scheduled for November 11-19, following a round of league matches.
Before that break, the Premier League leaders will face several top-flight opponents, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton, and Aston Villa, in addition to matches against RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, as well as a Carabao Cup fixture against Brighton.
Caoimhin Kelleher, who missed the match against Palace due to illness, is expected to take over in goal for Alisson.
“It is quite clear then that he [Kelleher] is the number two,” said Liverpool boss Arne Slot following the game at Selhurst Park.
“Otherwise, the last time Alisson was injured I would have played Vit, but I played Caoimhin. So Caoimhin is the number two and did really well.”
Kelleher stepped in for Alisson during the 32-year-old’s absence in September, playing in a league victory against Bournemouth and a League Cup win over West Ham.
Liverpool’s first match after the November international break is scheduled for November 24 against Southampton, followed by encounters with Real Madrid, Manchester City, Newcastle United, and local rivals Everton.
