Manchester City has chosen to withdraw from their pursuit of Declan Rice, the West Ham captain, which has given Arsenal confidence in their ability to secure the English midfielder with an improved bid of up to £105 million.
Following Arsenal’s enhanced offer, West Ham awaited Manchester City’s response, but the decision by the Etihad club to exit the competition has put Arsenal in a favorable position to finalize a deal for Rice.
Throughout the summer, there has been significant interest in the 24-year-old, with Arsenal, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich all expressing their desire to sign him.
However, it seems that Arsenal is now leading the race by submitting a bid that is close to West Ham’s valuation, potentially setting a new world record for the most expensive English player, surpassing Jack Grealish’s £100 million fee paid by Manchester City in 2021.
The expected transfer fee for Rice is approximately £105 million, with £100 million upfront and an additional £5 million in achievable add-ons based on realistic targets.
