Mexico’s teenage sensation Gilberto Mora achieved a historic milestone after featuring at the FIFA World Cup, becoming the youngest player ever from the Concacaf region to appear at the tournament.
The youngster was brought on in the second half and, at just 17 years old, eclipsed a record that had stood for nearly a century. The previous benchmark was set by Mexican great Manuel Rosas, who played at the 1930 World Cup at the age of 18.
Mora’s achievement is made even more remarkable by the presence of veteran goalkeeper Ochoa in the same squad. Ochoa had already competed at a World Cup years before Mora was born, showcasing the blend of youth and experience within the Mexican team.
The appearance marks another significant step in Mora’s promising career and further cements his status as one of Mexico’s brightest young talents.
