Victor Osimhen has spoken out after receiving two awards at the Italian Footballers’ Association awards on Monday night.

The Nigerian forward clinched awards for Serie A’s Best Player and a spot in the league’s Team of the Year.

Osimhen played a pivotal role in guiding Napoli to their first league title in 33 years during the remarkable 2022/23 season.

Following the Gran Gala del Calcio awards event, the striker shared his thoughts on social media.

“Thank you Grand Gala AIC for the recognition and awards, thank you my family, friends, and supporters for your votes and unending support. GOD is the Greatest.”

The 24-year-old also secured the Serie A Golden Boot in the previous season, netting 31 goals in 39 matches across all competitions for Napoli.

Osimhen played a crucial role in guiding his team to the quarter-finals of the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League, showcasing his prowess as the lead striker for the Super Eagles.

However, the current season has seen Osimhen face a slower start due to injuries impacting his playing time, as reported by Football Italia.

Nevertheless, despite these setbacks, the striker stands a chance to be crowned the best player in Africa next week, as he has made it to the final shortlist for the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.
