Cole Palmer has been named the England Men’s Player of the Year for 2023-24.

The Chelsea forward was voted for by the public, finishing ahead of Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka, who placed second and third, respectively.

Palmer made his debut for the Three Lions in November last year during a 2-0 win against Malta at Wembley.

He has earned nine caps, starting twice, with five of his appearances coming at Euro 2024, where he scored in the final against Spain, though Gareth Southgate’s team lost 2-1.

This recognition follows his PFA Young Player of the Year award for 2023-24, which he received in August after an impressive debut season at Chelsea.

Palmer, who joined the Blues from Manchester City last summer, scored 25 goals in all competitions.

He has netted two goals for England and is expected to feature in the upcoming Nations League fixtures against Greece on Thursday and Finland on Sunday.

The 2023-24 England Women’s Player of the Year will be announced later this month.

Palmer joins illustrious list

Palmer is the first Chelsea player to receive this honor since Ashley Cole in 2010, with Frank Lampard also having won the award while at the club.

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka was named Men’s Player of the Year for the past two seasons, joining a prestigious list of former winners, including Harry Kane, Wayne Rooney, and David Beckham.
