Paris St-Germain (PSG) extended their lead at the summit of Ligue 1 to nine points as Kylian Mbappe both scored and had a penalty saved in their victory over Strasbourg.

The forward’s early spot-kick was saved by Alaa Bellaarouch, but Marco Asensio was able to charge down his clearing and set up Mbappe for the first goal.

This season, it was the 20th league goal for the France international.

Before Dilane Bakwa answered, Mbappe returned the favor by crossing the ball for Asensio to add a second in the 49th minute.

In the last 20 minutes, Strasbourg tried to pull one back but again failed to find a way past Gianluigi Donnarumma.

With one game remaining, PSG’s lead over Nice is now nine points, while Strasbourg remains in tenth place. On Sunday, PSG’s closest competitors, Brest, visit Brest.
