Robert Lewandowski has announced that he will leave FC Barcelona when his contract expires at the end of the season, bringing an end to a successful four-year stay at the club.

The Polish striker joined Barcelona in 2022 and went on to make 191 appearances across all competitions, scoring 119 goals. During his time in Spain, he helped the club win three La Liga titles, including this season’s crown, as well as one Copa del Rey and three Supercopa de España trophies.

Despite starting only 15 of his 29 La Liga matches this season, Lewandowski remains Barcelona’s second-highest scorer in the league with 13 goals.

“After four years full of challenges and hard work, it’s time to move on,” Lewandowski said in a video shared on Instagram.

“I leave with the feeling that the mission is complete. Four seasons, three championships.

“I will never forget the love I received from the fans from my very first days. Catalonia is my place on earth.

“Thank you to everyone I met along the way during these beautiful four years.

“A special thank you to President Laporta for giving me the chance to live the most incredible chapter of my career.

“Barca is back where it belongs.”

Lewandowski finished as Barcelona’s top scorer in each of his first three seasons and claimed the La Liga Golden Boot in the 2022–23 campaign after scoring 23 goals. His most productive league season came last term, when he netted 27 times.

The 37-year-old is expected to play his final match at Camp Nou on Sunday against Real Betis, before making his last appearance for Barcelona away to Valencia CF on May 23.

Lewandowski’s next destination remains uncertain, though he has been linked with clubs in the Saudi Pro League and Major League Soccer.
