Cristiano Ronaldo has encouraged Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia following his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, urging the Georgian international to remain confident as he begins his recovery.
Ronaldo, who has been Kvaratskhelia’s childhood idol, offered words of support to the 25-year-old as he prepares for a difficult period of rehabilitation.
In a message shared by Fabrizio Romano on X on Wednesday, the Portuguese forward said, “The hardest battles in football are often ones nobody sees.
“I know that feeling, Kvara. But never forget what brought you this far, and don’t let a difficult moment make you doubt how far you can go.
“Keep that fire on. Your best is still to come,” Ronaldo added.
Kvaratskhelia suffered an ACL injury to his right knee during PSG’s UEFA Champions League clash against Barcelona. The French club confirmed that the winger would undergo surgery in the coming days.
The injury comes as a major setback for the Georgian, who had been in impressive form before being forced off during the encounter.
Reacting to the diagnosis, Kvaratskhelia expressed his frustration, admitting that he found it difficult to accept the situation despite preparing thoroughly for the match.
“Why me? I was not ready for this,” he said in an emotional statement.
Despite the setback, the PSG winger pledged to work hard throughout his rehabilitation and return stronger for the supporters who have continued to stand by him.
“I know I have to come back stronger for my people who always support me. I won’t let you down; I promise I won’t waste a second. Thank you all for your support, see you soon,” he added.
Ronaldo’s message holds special meaning for Kvaratskhelia, who has admired the five-time Ballon d’Or winner since childhood.
The Portuguese forward’s words provide encouragement as the PSG star begins his recovery, with the Georgian determined to overcome the injury and return to action.
