Ten-man Spain held firm to secure a flattering victory over Switzerland in the Nations League.
The European champions took the lead when Joselu headed in Lamine Yamal’s cross, despite goalkeeper Gregor Kobel’s efforts to keep it out.
Becir Omeragic appeared to have equalized for Switzerland, but the goal was disallowed by VAR due to a handball earlier in the play. Shortly after, Spain doubled their lead as Fabian Ruiz capitalized on a rebound following a saved shot from Nico Williams.
Spain’s Robin le Normand was then sent off midway through the first half for a professional foul on Breel Embolo, shifting the game’s momentum.
Zeki Amdouni struck the crossbar with the resulting free-kick and later pulled one back for Switzerland from close range after a corner. Switzerland had another goal ruled out as they pressed for an equalizer.
However, Spain exploited the defensive gaps left by their opponents, with Ruiz netting again from Ferran Torres’ cross — Spain’s first shot in 45 minutes. Moments later, substitute Torres added a fourth, slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
In the group’s earlier game, Denmark defeated Serbia 2-0 to move to six points. Defending Nations League champions Spain had previously drawn 0-0 with Serbia in their opening match.
